Andy Ruiz Jr. Labels Misfits Champ Chase DeMoor “Easy Money”

Former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. has acknowledged Chase DeMoor’s public call-out, viewing a potential crossover fight as “easy money” and an ideal opportunity to return to the public eye. DeMoor gained significant attention for his boxing victory over controversial influencer Andrew Tate.

Andy Ruiz Considers “Easy Money” Match with Chase DeMoor

“The Destroyer” Andy Ruiz, a Mexican-American heavyweight from Imperial, California, is most famously known for his shocking upset victory against Anthony Joshua at Madison Square Garden in June 2019. Stepping in as a last-minute replacement and a considerable underdog, he knocked Joshua down four times, stopping him in the seventh round to claim the unified WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO titles, becoming the first fighter of Mexican heritage to hold the heavyweight crown.

Chase DeMoor forged his path to fame differently, initially building an audience through American football and reality television before finding success within the burgeoning influencer boxing scene. He played college football at Central Washington, then achieved prominence on Netflix’s “Too Hot To Handle” in 2021, followed by other dating-reality projects. He then transitioned to Misfits Boxing, where he secured the promotion’s heavyweight title in November 2024.

When questioned about a potential fight with the Misfits champion, Ruiz confirmed that DeMoor had publicly challenged him and that he is receptive to the idea under the right conditions. Ruiz stated, “Oh yeah, he called me out a few months ago. Let’s make it happen, that’s easy money, make me an offer and we can do it, I’ll go to your house. Yeah, that would be nice. I even told him congratulations on beating Andrew Tate. But if I beat him, do you think people are gonna be happy? Will they think I’ve fought someone big? No, but I think it would be a good comeback fight. It’s easy money. I’ll buy another house with that.”

While he respects DeMoor’s recent triumph over Andrew Tate and the buzz surrounding Misfits, Ruiz doesn’t believe that dedicated boxing fans would value a victory over an influencer champion as highly as a win against a top-tier contender. Nevertheless, he sees DeMoor as a profitable, low-risk option that could help reintroduce him to a younger, new audience while also funding another personal investment.

The Oblivion Sparring Incident and Influencer Boxing

Ruiz’s perspective on the influencer phenomenon has been partially shaped by a viral sparring session with streamer and influencer boxer Oblivion, which ended with the content creator on the canvas, complaining about his jaw. During that widely shared session, Ruiz playfully dominated the much smaller opponent before dropping him with a sharp uppercut, leaving Oblivion rolling on the floor and later claiming temporary blackouts.

Ruiz has embraced the humorous aspect of that clip rather than treating it as a serious commentary on boxing skill levels. He commented, “Well, I think that was just funny. Him sparring, and coming over here to see what I do, my drills, my routine. I think it’s fun to get people to know who Andy Ruiz is because I’ve been stuck under a rock like Patrick Star in SpongeBob. People don’t really know what I’ve been doing, how I really am, and now they can get to know me. So, I feel it was good for him to come and for us to do a little skit like that. Influencers boxing doesn’t bother me. I mean, if they want to get in there and throw hands, I think it’s okay.”

He is content to share the ring with influencers, recognizes the value of their broad reach, and feels no threat from the influencer boxing scene. For DeMoor, a fight with Ruiz presents both a significant challenge and a fast track to legitimacy. For Ruiz, it appears to be a lucrative crossover payday that he is confident he can easily convert into “easy money.”
