Former UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira has disclosed that he considered withdrawing from his recent bout against Magomed Ankalaev due to a fractured hand.
Pereira faced Ankalaev at UFC 313 on March 9th and suffered a unanimous decision loss, relinquishing his title in the process.
“I don`t want to diminish Ankalaev`s achievements. Many people try to do that, but it`s not my style. Everyone faces challenges, and I`m sure he had his own. Yes, I had difficulties – my arm is recovering now – and it did affect me. However, I`m not using it as an excuse. My time will come, and when I reclaim the belt, I`ll discuss everything in detail. Yes, I thought about not taking the fight. It was one of the toughest training camps I`ve ever had because of everything that happened,” Pereira told Ariel Helwani.
